Philippians 4:13- It Is Not Just A Verse

Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

If you have ever went to a christian athletes bio on Instagram it is possible that you might see this verse. You might also see it if you ask one of these athletes what his or he tattoo says. This is a common verse. Sometimes it can be overlooked because we see it everywhere. Have you ever stopped to think about the power in it. I knew in my head it was true in my head, but in my heart it didn't really mean anything to me. Until about two weeks ago when I realized how relevant to my life it is.

On May 22, 2017 I flew across the country to Georgia, to sooth my curiosity of the south. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that God made it so clear that this is where he wanted me to spend the majority of my summer. I was excited to see what he was going to do with HIS plan. There where lots of smiles, laughs, and tears (good and bad).  I learned about grace, joy, God's character, doing everything for Jesus, seeing HIM in others,  and giving God ALL of me (including my emotions.)

I am so thankful to the camp photographers who captured all these special moments. I will always remember the special friends I made and all the craziness to go with this adventure.

The last image is me covered in shaving cream. This is a result of an Ultimate Rec game getting a little messy, as it should be. The funny thing about this is week two I saw a camper covered head to toe in shaving cream and made a comment about that being me as a camper. Then someone said that is you now. I proved that person right when a camper threw shaving cream on me and I went with it. I even went and sat in the pool of shaving cream afterwards. That moment was filled with so much joy.

The reason I chose the topic of this article to be Philippians 4:13 is, these moments were great, but there where other moments that were some of the hardest moments I had ever faced. I was all the way across the country from everything I knew. I remember calling my mom in week five, it was one of my hardest days. My mom asked me if I was going to make it through eight weeks. At that moment I did not know. After that conversation I was determined, I was going to prove to myself and everyone supporting me that I could do it.

Flash forward to week eight, I made it! There were hard moments in the last three weeks, I made lots of mistakes and learned from them, I made long lasting memories with people I will never forget. I did all that through Jesus who gave me strength. In my last week in Georgia, God showed me what HE can do.

After missing a flight I finally made it home two weeks ago. Since being back in Big Sky Country I have had lots of time to reflect. I have thought about everything God taught me and how I am going to use it. I never want to underestimate HIS power ever again!

This summer I ran on Red Bull and Jesus, but mostly JESUS!
