To The Girl Who Feels Pressure To Find Love


Hey Girl,
It's me, the girl just like you. I understand your feelings completely. Everywhere I look I see someone I know finding love. All I have to do is scroll through my Facebook news feed and I see relationships changing left and right. It seems that right now is the time for people my age to be engaged. Oh, I can't forget my Instagram feed, where I see pictures of hashtag relationship goals every time I open the app. It seems like almost everyone I know is in a relationship, or at least talking to someone, except me.

Don't get me wrong it is not that I don't want to find love, it just hasn't happened yet. I feel like every time I tell someone I am twenty years old and have never been in a real relationship, they look at me like something is wrong. I feel like the people I am close to in life are not so patiently waiting for me to get a boyfriend.

This would be easy for me to blow off if it wasn't a huge desire of my heart. Every time a cute song about people falling in love comes on the radio, I can't help but think about when it will be me falling in love. I think about my future forever man all the time. Ever since I was sixteen I have dreamed of being the cute girlfriend who leaves notes all over the place and shows up with little surprises, like his favorite candy. I have been told a few times I will make a boy really happy one day. A few of my friends even think my first relationship will be my only one, due to the nature of the relationship I am seeking.

I dream of being someones wife, not someones girlfriend. A wife is forever a girlfriend is until someone is tired of me. This is the reason I am not willing to settle. If I talk to a guy in a relationship seeking way, it is because I see potential in him. The kind of relationship I am looking for is one where Jesus is at the center. I am looking for a man who is intentional in the way he pursues me, but most importantly puts Jesus first. I am looking for a relationship where we are both working toward a serious commitment.

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heaven:"
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Rest assured that God has a plan for love. I trust that one day when only God knows love will find me. God has perfect timing which is greater than anything we can imagine. 

I have settled before, but that did nothing for me. Most of the time the boy didn't love Jesus as much as I do, or he just wanted to be a "thing." This lead to a lot of heart break and disappointment.

To those people who wonder why I am still single as a Pringle in an empty can and never had a boyfriend, other than the boy who asked me out as a joke in eighth grade, it is because I am not willing to put myself on the line for heart break again. Even though those almost relationships never worked out, they taught me so much and I have grown from them. I want any relationship I get into to be working toward the bigger picture of spending the rest of our lives together, with Jesus at center stage.

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear..."
1 John 4:18

I am waiting to find a love like the kind Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 13. To the girl who is feeling the same way, I encourage you to keep waiting and developing yourself to be the loving soul your future forever man needs and deserves. 

 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."
2 Corinthians 12:9

God's grace and love is enough. It is the only thing that can give true satisfaction. When love comes, it will be just the way God designed. To the Girl Who Feels Pressure to Find Love, don't give into the pressure and settle, keep waiting!

Patagonia Makes My Friends Think of Me

Do they see Jesus when they see me? If you are the slightest bit outdoorsy you have probably at least heard of Patagonia. As a Young Lifer, I love to show off my Patagonia gear. Honestly the location of the Patagonia Outlet played a role when it came time for me to decide where to attend college. While I chose University Montana Western for many reasons, the Patagonia Outlet was definitely one of them. A few of my friends who are not as familiar with the brand have told me that anytime they see Patagonia they think of me. This was so sweet to hear and such a compliment that people associate me with my favorite outdoor brand. It got me thinking I wonder what people think of when they interact with me. I thought about what I want people to see. I thought about the first impression I want to give when I meet a new person. I want to be kind and inviting. I want people to feel comfortable around me. He Sees Me

The Lord does not just think, He knows.  The other day I woke up to the sun coming in the window at 6 a.m. Not being much of a morning person I was not ready to get up, so I laid in bed thinking and praying what was on my heart. Then my mind began to wonder to a place which is very familiar to my brain. I thought about the day a guy might look at me and say I'm beautiful and be ecstatic to be with me. I thought about that for a few minutes and a mix of emotions came over me. I thought "Why hasn't that ever happened to me?" and "When it actually happens it will be beautiful." Then I got out of bed to get ready for the day and looked in the mirror. I felt the Holy Spirit come over me and whisper "You are beautiful."
